How to Use E-VeT PDF Print E-mail

This is a short introduction on how best to use E-VeT's new site. It will take a little while for content to be added from the old site and final configurations need to be adjusted. This 'How to' article will be edited as necessary to reflect changes. All articles and contributions are stored under one of three categories: Public, Registered or Special access

Public access will be to the general content which is mostly some animal care sheets, links, the ever popular animal sounds page for kiddies, animal pictures and the Public section of our Gallery. This site is not intended as a source for public questions to the veterinary profession although E-VeT does have a public access mailing list hosted at Yahoogroups http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/aske-vet/ . Public access also allows viewing of the Classified Ads section and there will be some Professionals' Articles that are left in the public domain.

ImageRegistered Access is strictly for Veterinary Professionals. If you qualify as such then you are cordially invited to register now and join up with a great bunch of folk spread out over this globe. Much of E-VeT's business is based in email discussions and links to those can be found on this site. Much of this site's content can only be viewed by registered members.  There is a link to Registration on the top menu and by the login box.

Material that colleagues wish to restrict to Vets Only and guard against fraudulent registrations will be under Special Access. This area requires Registered members to write to the site administration after Registration and ask for their status to be upgraded. This will be automatic for current members of E-VeT that I recognise. Members who wish to be upgraded should supply sufficient details of their status., where they work, graduation date and institute or provide recommendation from another member. There is no fee for special access.

This site is a place where members can upload images for discussion with their peers ,usually via the email discussion groups, although the Professional Gallery will allow members to add their comments to images and cases presented there. Members are also encouraged to add to this site's content by uploading material of interest to other professionals. We are pretty laid-back and totally understand that not every member will be fluent in English .. so don't worry about typo's and grammar. So short communications, interesting images, sample report sheets, admission form examples.. can all be useful and help us see how the veterinary business works in other countries.

Special Access allows members to submit content themselves and depending on the level of their Special Access may be able to help edit other members' contributions or approve that content for publication here. All Registered Members are encourage to ask for a status upgrade. I shall send occasional reminders to members within the different groups.

Navigation of this site should be easy. If you experience problems then try the FAQ section or write to the site admin if the FAQ fails to help. The Classified Ads section is simple enough. The Content Menu will have submenus which will be accessible by members' status for further navigation and the Blog button leads to shorter precis without images.

Gallery access to the e-vet section is restricted to special access with a unique login for that part. If you do not have that access then you will just see the public folder. Special access members can find info on how to access their part of the gallery in the FAQs

If there is any confusion over site navigation then please write in .. that is the only way i know that I have a problem to solve!
